Course material overview

There are ten weeks, covering different aspects of ethics. We think of them as different places on "Ethics Island". They are:

  • Week 1- Introduction to Morality and Ethics: Virtue Vista

  • Week 2- Consent: Consent Cliff

  • Week 3- Confidentiality: Confidentiality Cavern

  • Week 4- Non-exploitation: Protection Fort

  • Week 5- Discrimination: Ethics and Discrimnatory Practise

  • Week 6- Ethical Codes: Ethical Dock

  • Week 7- Culture: Culture Rainbow

  • Week 8- Culture and Universality: Heritage Monument

  • Week 9- Guidelines for culturally relevant psychotherapy: Competence Library

  • Week 10- Culture: Practise Well

Aims

This unit will provide students with an overview of the ethical issues arising from therapeutic contact with others.
